Riding to School
At Strathtulloh Primary School we promote health and fitness and we encourage students to ride their bikes or scooters to school. Please make sure your child is wearing a correct fitting helmet. The bike storage areas is located near the Central Gate on Wembley Avenue. If you are riding your bike or scooter to school please use this gate for entry & exit purposes. If you must bring your bike or scooter through the school grounds please make sure you walk your bike or scooter at all times and give way to all pedestrians.
Wearing a helmet is the law in Victoria. Students who do ride to school without a helmet will need to leave their bike/scooter at school for their parent to collect or return with a helmet.
We strongly recommend the use of bike/scooter locks at all times. The school and the department of education take no responsibility for any lost of stolen items.
Important Info
Parents/guardians are responsible for their children travelling to and from school. This includes all forms of travel to get to school.
Children under the age of 12 may ride on footpaths, as can a supervising adult. They are required to give way to pedestrians and to wheel their bicycles over pedestrian and children’s crossings.
Children aged 12 years or older are required by law to ride on the road.
Road safety authorities recommend that children under the age of 9 are supervised by an adult when riding on the road. Depending on their cycling skills and experience, some children over this age may still require supervision.
Approved helmets have the Australian Standards Mark TM (AS/NZS 2063) and will be marked as suitable for cycling.
